As I was beginning this magazine, I tried to come up with a name that would be catchy and clever, one that captured the essence of spinning... What popped into my mind was... Spindlicity!

Spindle + Felicity
Spindle + City
I hope Spindlicity captures all three of these... Spindles are wonderfully simple technology, portable, useful and elegant. Spindles and spindling also bring me much joy and contentment... an instant meditation to calm me down. Spindles bring together a community of fiber enthusiasts, I hope this community will find a place here at Spindlicity.
When I first began Spindlicity I had no idea how much work an internet magazine could be! First there was learning how to put together a website, then gathering articles and coercing friends to contribute, thinking up what to include, how to promote it, what to say.
I am very proud of this first issue. I think I have done the very best I could do, and done more than I knew I could do. I have met many wonderful people who have helped me, contributed their time, merchandise and good will to help make Spindlicity a success! I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I was touched by all the good wishes from those signing up for the mailing list, touched by the praise from friends and strangers, and the trusting goodwill of the vendor/sponsors in this issue who helped make the grand opening prize giveaway a reality.

The mission of Spindlicity is to be a magazine that beginners, experienced spinners and fiber artists will enjoy. We want to bring you a combination of articles on basic techniques, beautiful tools, fibers, people and artistry. We hope we have succeeded in this issue.
