I am not normally drawn to warmer tones, but lately, their sunshiny brightness just make me smile. Instead of falling back on my favorite cool shades of blue green and purple, I've been spinning up a storm of delicious yellows and oranges.

This hat is made with a rich sunflower yellow Corriedale, in a monochromatic colorway. While the pattern would work with a variegated, I would avoid anything with a lot of strong contrast. Instead, consider analogous or solid shades that won't compete too heavily with the lace pattern.

Marigold

Materials:
36 grams of Corriedale from Spunky Eclectic, spun on 1.9 ounce Golding Spindle. Final yarn weight: 2 ply, 14 WPI

Needles:
US #8, 12 or 16" circular needle
Set of US #8 DPNs

Gauge: 20.5 stitches and 24 rows = 4" in pattern

Finished Dimensions:
Circumference: 18.5" [21", 23.3"]
Height: 8" [8", 8.5"]

CO: 96 [108, 120] sts on circular needle.
Work 5 [5, 8] rows of k1, p1 ribbing.
Begin Chart, repeating it 8 [9, 10] times per round.
NOTE: On row 10, begin the round by knitting 5, not 4. For the remainder of the round, work chart as shown. Your last "Slip2, K1, PSSO" will work the last two stitches of the round plus the first stitch of the round.

Work the chart a total of 3 times before beginning decreasing of crown.

Follow chart for decreasing of crown, switching to DPNs when necessary.

Finishing:
Cut a 10" tail. Thread tail through all remaining stitches on needles, twice.
Weave in ends.
Block the hat. It should grow in length, substantially, after blocking.
